Vitamin A
There are various forms of Vitamin A for skin care. In order for Vitamin A to be effective for skin care a certain amount must be converted into retinoic acid within the skin. Retinoic acid became very popular but it had its downside, irritation and excessive dryness. Researchers found that the skin was able to convert retinoic acid from other forms of Vitamin A, to a lesser degree, which resulted in far less or no irritation.
All forms of Vitamin A should be used only at night as the sun inactivates it. While some manufactureres have added a form of Vitamin A into their sunscreens it is quite controversial. Clearly, this is not something a wise consumer should use.
Vitamin A has also been shown very effective for acne. However, be sure to check the label for pore clogging ingredients.
Sunscreen should be applied every morning when using any form of Vitamin A topical product.
